As we continue further on our breakfast journey, different states of India have different breakfast options. But some of the most common and healthy breakfast recipes that are enjoyed by people globally are shared in both the earlier and this post. 

Rava Dhokla  

The Rava dhokla is yet another light yet healthy breakfast option made with Rava or Soji. It’s perfect for weight loss, but yet keeps the tummy full.  

Ingredients  

  • 1 cup Rava/Soji  
  • 1 cup Dahi/yogurt  
  • ½ cup water  
  • Salt as per taste  
  • ½ tsp soda bicarbonate/Eno  
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds  
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds  
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds  
  • 8-10 curry leaves  
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves  
  • 1 tbsp grated coconut  

Method: –  

  • Mix the Rava, yogurt, water, and salt in a large bowl. Keep aside.  
  • Add 3-4 cups of water to the steamer and heat it.  
  • Grease the dhokla tray with oil and keep it aside.  
  • Now add ½ tsp ENO/Soda Bicarbonate to the mixture. Whisk it quickly till the batter becomes frothy. Now put this batter in the dhokla tray and keep it in the steamer. Cover the steamer and cook the Dhokla for approximately 20 minutes.  
  • After 20 mins, insert a knife or a toothpick to check if the dhokla is cooked. If it’s cooked properly, turn off the flame.   
  • Allow the dhokla to cool for 5-6 mins.  
  • Heat the oil in a small pan. Add mustard and cumin seeds, and allow them to crackle. Then add sesame seeds and curry leaves and temper them for a few seconds. Switch off the flame, and with a spoon spread the tempering evenly over the dhokla.  
  • Lastly, add coriander leaves or freshly grated coconut. Serve the dhokla with chutney.  

Moong Sprouts Salad  

Yes, you read it right. This is the only salad that one can have for breakfast. It’s very easy to make, healthy, low fat, gluten-free, and completely vegan. One can find all these ingredients in any Indian household.   

Ingredients: –  

  • 1.5 cups of sprouted moong  
  • 1 small finely chopped onion  
  • 1 medium-sized tomato finely chopped.  
  • 1 finely chopped green chilis  
  • ¼ tsp red chili powder  
  • ½ tsp chaat masala  
  • 1 tsp lemon juice  
  • 1 finely chopped medium-sized potato  
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves  
  • Salt as per taste  

Method: –  

  • Boil 1.5 cups of sprouted moong in a big bowl.  
  • Add the finely chopped onion and tomato. Add the chopped potato and green chilis and mix well.   
  • Add the red chili powder, chaat masala, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well.  
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve immediately.  

Moong Dal Chilla  

This is a healthy, tasty, and nutritious Chilla made with yellow moong dal. The moong dal has to be soaked overnight or for a few hours before it can be ground.   

Ingredients: –  

  • 1 cup-soaked moong dal  
  • ¼ cup water for grinding or as required  
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder  
  • ¼ tsp red chili powder  
  • ½ tsp cumin powder  
  • ¼ cup chopped coriander leaves  
  • ¼ cup finely chopped onions  
  • 1 tsp grated ginger  
  • 1-2 finally chopped green chilis  
  • Salt as per taste  

Method: –  

  • Soak the moong dal overnight in 2-3 cups of water. The moong dal would double in size. Discard the water and grind the moong dal with the required amount of water in the grinder.  
  • A smooth and lump-free batter is required for making the Chilla.  
  • Put the batter in a bowl and add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.  
  • Add the chopped onions, ginger, coriander leaves, and green chilis and mix well.  
  • Allow the batter to rest for 20 minutes.  
  • The batter should be of an even consistency. It shouldn’t be too runny or too thick.   
  • Heat the pan and add a little oil to it.  
  • Add a scoop of batter to the pan and spread it evenly in a round Dosa shape.  
  • Cook the Chilla on medium heat until they turn crisp and brown.  
  • Turn the Chillas on the other side and cook.   
  • Moong Dal Chillas is ready. You can serve them with either ketchup or chutney.
